What If I Miss My Payroll Submission Deadline?

What If I Miss My Payroll Submission Deadline?

What do I do if I don’t submit my payroll by the cut-off time?

In the event that you did not submit your payroll on time. Then you have two options.

  1. To pay workers on time, it is recommended to process payroll as normal BUT to select ‘Paper Checks’ as the payment method for your workers. Your account will still be debited for the owed taxes.

    1. After you submit payroll, you will be able to see the NET pay to write a check for each worker.

  2. Alternatively, you can change the pay date to a future date that matches your processing time.

    1. 4-day processing: the pay date needs to be 4 days after the submission date

    2. 2-day processing: the pay date needs to be 2 days after the submission date

Either way you choose, it is important to process the payroll so that you remain compliant with your taxes and avoid penalties, and so that your workers NET pay and YTD numbers remain accurate.
