While handling accounting, there may be instances in which you discover a client has a credit on their account, but cannot find where/when it stems from. There are two ways to easily find the billing period that the credit exists in.
Via Invoices Report - This method should be used when a credit has been created due to a reduction in fees after payment has already been made by the client. For example, a miscellaneous fee being deleted or a reduction in their fee rate.
1) Navigate to Menu > Accounting > Reports.
2) Under 'Select Report' search Invoices to run an invoices report.
3) You can configure the time period in which you wish to search for this credit. To be as robust as possible, you could select the client's registration date or the date they began receiving services as the period beginning and select today's date as the period ending.
4) For the format of the report, select HTML. This will pull the information onto the current webpage. (If you would prefer to download a file and run this report in Excel, for example, you can choose the CSV format).
5) This report will generate invoice information from all of your clients and for all invoices that have been created during your selected timeframe. To filter for the client in question, enter their name in the search bar.
6) After filtering for the client, if you click the Inv Cred column so the arrow points downward, it will pull their credit(s) to the top and the associated billing period will be displayed.

Via Manage Receipts - This method should be used when a receipt has been created for a billing period to reflect that the client is issuing payment in excess.
1) Navigate to Menu > Accounting > Payer Invoicing.
2) Find an invoice for the client (it doesn't matter which invoice/billing period) and on the right-hand side, select Manage Receipts under Actions.
3) 'X' out the Invoice ID, check "Only receipts with credit" and select the magnifying glass icon to search.
4) From here, receipts with a credit attached to it will be displayed. If you click the edit pencil on the left, it will show the billing period.
